Turn Your Event Into a Year’s Worth of Podcast Content

Helping Associations Stay Relevant, Engaged, and Growing

Welcome back
I hope you had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. Mine was filled with friends, family, kids, BBQs, adult beverages, swimming pools, and one very long beach day. I am tired, sore, and it was nice to sit down this morning for a Zoom meeting to show off my glowing red, sunburned head.

Speaking of events, most associations utilize an annual meeting to bring their members and the industry they represent together. As some of you know from working with us, these conferences are a goldmine of content and connection.

This week, let's discuss how to transform this event into a year-round member engagement strategy.

Podcasting Strategy Spotlight

The Flywheel of Member Engagement

Your annual event is more than just a gathering; it’s a celebration. It is a community moment that members look forward to, and it can power your content flywheel for months.

Here are a few things we have learned from years of recording association podcast episodes at annual events and why it matters:

  • You are already investing time, budget, and energy into this event.

  • Your top thought leaders, members, and industry voices are all in one place.

  • You already have the why. Now you just need to capture the what and who in the recordings.

Quick Win You Can Try

The Corner Studio Strategy

  • Set up a small, branded podcast corner in your expo or lobby space.

  • Invite speakers, attendees, or exhibitors for quick 10–15 minute interviews.

  • Offer suppliers a podcast interview as part of their sponsorship package.

Even if you record eight short conversations, that is eight months of episodes ready to go.

Our clients do versions of all of these things. One client, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA), utilizes a breakout room and schedules interviews throughout the entire conference. This year, they came away with 28 valuable episodes. Other clients capture 2–8 interviews and even include sessions as part of the conference agenda so members can watch live and ask questions.

Why This Works

Authenticity
On-site interviews feel fresh and real. Your members can sense the energy, and they build FOMO for those who did not attend. If recorded in the expo hall, the background buzz adds to the excitement of the episodes.

Retention
Members who hear themselves or their colleagues on the podcast are more likely to stay engaged.

Revenue
Sponsors value being part of content that lives beyond the event. Adding sponsorship options such as banners, seat drops, bumpers, and dynamic ads helps exhibitors reach members even after the conference ends.

Real Talk from the Field

Our association clients consistently tell us:
"Our members listen during their commute, while walking their dog, or between meetings. It's the one thing they actually consume fully. They appreciate the opportunity to do other things while listening to valuable content."

Let’s Plan It Together
